INTRO
The Global Crowdfunding Academy is an initiative of UNDP’s Alternative Finance Lab targeting UNDP staff and partners, helping them learn more about crowdfunding and to conduct their own crowdfunding campaigns and thus contribute to 2030 Agenda and its objectives. UNDP hosted its second global Crowdfunding Academy in Cairo in April 2017 for colleagues and partners from 10 countries around the world to learn more about alternative finance mechanisms, from equity crowdfunding to alternative currencies. Experts were brought in from Indiegogo, Kiva, Bettervest, SolarCoin and Terra Hub who, together with the Crowdfunding Academy instructors, worked with teams to imrpove their crowdfunding campaigns for initiatives ranging from cookstoves in Uganda to road safety in Lebanon.
