It all started as part of the lab’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and among the several measures taken by UNDP Egypt to ensure the safety of its staff members, improve communications while reducing exposure to the virus.

The idea is very simple and goes as follows: 1. Make a vCard for the person. A vCard is a contact card with the same format as the contacts in any phone device. 2. Generate a QR code for the vCard made with one of two options: Option 1: Static QR code: This basically will transform all the text in the vCard into elements of the QR code. This method is not recommended since it will be a complex QR code, containing a lot of information, which will make it difficult to scan smoothly. Option 2: Dynamic QR code: in very simple terms the QR code generator will save the vCard information on cloud storage with a specified URL address and the QR code will reflect only the URL address which will can be scanned easily.
